Buttonhole or Blanket Machine Stitched Applique
"Fusible Web Applique is so easy and fun to do, but many fabrics (especially T-Shirt knits) require a stabilizer to prevent puckering and shifting. I have found that even if the fabric being fused onto is stable, Totally Stable will help my sewing machine create more even and accurate decorative stitches on the applique. On my 'Fish Lake' Denum Shirt, I ironed Totally Stable behind the denim prior to fusing the applique. This helped eliminate shifting and stretching during fusing and allowed for beautiful buttonhole stitching around the fused fabric applique, Sulky Totally Stable was a breeze to remove compared to other 'Tear-Aways' I have used. Any remaining stailizer left my project soft and comfortable to wear." --- Elaine
Joyce's tip:
Sulky 30 wt. Rayon Decorative Thread is perfect for Machine Buttonhole Applique. For an even heavier stitched look, use two 30 wt. threads through one 16/100 needle. Reduce top tension slightly.
