Sulky Solvy (if doing computerized embroidery)
- 20" of 1/2" wide ribbon
- All purpose Sewing Thread
- Assorted Sulky Decorative Threads
- 80/12 Sewing Machine Needle
- Embroidery or Top-stitch Needle Size 90/14
- Ruler, Rotary Cutter and Mat
- Chalk Marker
- Pins
- Scissors

- Choose a fabric with an all-over design.
(Important note about fabric choices: The fabric needs to be 45" wide with selvages that are 1/2" or less. Slightly narrower
fabric will result in less height, limiting your choice of paper pads or
stationery; or you could make your pocket depths smaller. One-way designs do not work well.)
Do not cut off selvages.
- Fold fabric in half lengthwise and crease (or use the crease that comes in the fabric as purchased on the bolt).
Open fabric wrong side up and spray KK 2000 from the crease 12" out to the right.
- Spread the 12" x 20" batting on top of the sprayed fabric next to the crease. To prevent the fabric sandwich from shifting
and puckering, spray KK 2000 on a layer of Tear-Easy and place it over the batting.

See diagram for placement of embellishment. Use decorative stitches, embroidery designs
and/or free-motion stippling to embellish to your heart's content with Sulky Decorative
Threads.

1. Cut a 10-1/2" x 20" piece of Sulky Cut-Away Plus and
place it adjacent to the batting so that edges will touch the
batting or slightly overlap it. Fold the fabric so the right
sides and selvage edges are together. Use a 1/2" seam allowance to sew
selvage edges together, catching Cut-Away Plus in the seam allowance.

2. Turn right side out. Press seam. Place decorative side
down and smooth fabric so that everything is laying nicely. To make the upper
pockets, fold the seam edge up so that it is laying
parallel to the folded edge about 8" from the top. Press. The next fold for the
lower pockets is just above the bottom seam edge about 10" down from the top. Press.
Feeling the edge of the batting through all layers will help you to keep everything even.
Pin through the fabric and the Cut-Away Plus layers only, leaving sides free for turning to the wrong side.

3. Place the ribbon ties on the 12" sides, centered and even with the cut edge; pin or baste
in position, again through fabric and Cut-Away Plus layers only.

4. Carefully turn entire project wrong side out, spray KK 2000 on another 10-1/2" x 20" piece
of Cut-Away Plus, and lay it on the wrong side of the fabric, not the batting side. Tuck ribbons
inside the sandwich. Use a 1/4" to 3/8" seam allowance to sew both ends closed, catching the Cut-Away
Plus edges in the stitching. Leave a 3" opening on one end to turn the project right side out; turn and
lay flat. Make sure pockets are
still in place.

5. Choose a Sulky Decorative Thread to topstitch about 1/8" from the edge all the way around the
outside edge. This will close the opening at the same time. Topstitch the pockets.

6. On the inside of the Stationery Keeper, find the center width. Mark it from top to bottom with a
chalk marker. Stitch 1/4" to the right of this mark and 3/4" to the left of this mark. This makes a 1"
channel for pens and allows the Stationery Keeper to fold
properly. To divide the pockets into two or four
sections, stitch a seam from the bottom to the pocket top edge on one or both sides.
