Dissolve the Solvy. Air dry. Press. Thread the top and bobbin
with Sulky Clear Invisible Thread. With brick fabric face down on the
table, center batting and lining fabric (right side up) over it,
spraying each layer with KK 2000 to hold them firmly while stitching.
Straight stitch quilt (either free-motion or with feed dogs up) on the
horizontal mortar lines in the brick fabric print. |

1.
Fold over the ends of the brick fabric twice and edge stitch them
to the lining fabric using Sulky Clear Invisible Thread on the top and
in the bobbin.
Place the book over the lining fabric side and fold flaps in.
Mark fold lines with a chalk marker. Remove the book. Fold the flaps
in the opposite direction so brick fabric is against brick fabric. Pin
in place. |
 |
2.
Thread serger with burgundy sewing thread and serge a 1/4
seam along long edges. If a serger is not available, use a close
zig-zag stitch at a medium width setting.
Fold flaps right side out again. Turn the remaining serged edge
toward the lining fabric and straight stitch it down using Sulky Clear
Invisible Thread. |
3.
Place the book into the book cover and enjoy!
Other Options: You could make your own personal
ownership label and sew it onto the lining; a ribbon could be added
for a book mark. |
