Intro
1.
Cut the long side of the 2mm White Puffy Foam into 6 strips,
each being slightly smaller than the thickness of the foam
(approximately 1/8).
Put a cording or beading foot on the machine, loosen top tension
to 2.6 or lower, set the width on 3.5 - 4, and the length on 0.35.
Place a strip of Puffy Foam over the longest, center vertical
line of the Trellis and, with the feed dogs up, satin stitch over it
with Sulky 30 wt. #1001 White on the top and Sulky Clear Invisible
Thread in the bobbin. |
 |
2.
To perforate the ends of the Puffy so they tear away more
cleanly, at the beginning and ending of each bar of the Trellis, lower
the feed dogs, select the multiple zig-zag stitch and the single
pattern button, and stitch across the end.
REPEAT FOR ALL VERTICAL LINES.
Tear off ends of Puffy. |
 |
3.
Using a left-over strip of Puffy, place it horizontally as design
shows, and satin stitch over it. REPEAT FOR ALL HORIZONTAL BARS.
Remove the excess Puffy (pull away, do not cut). Shrink any pokies
away by shooting them several times with steam from an iron held close
above the stitching. |
 |
4.
Choose the vine design again and put on the open-toe applique
foot. Thread the top and bobbin with Sulky 40 wt. #2115 Variegated
Dark Greens. Add more vines with some winding over the Puffy bars of
the Trellis. You can also add vines trailing at ground level over to
the other side of the book cover. End vines in the curl using just a
straight stitch. |
