sulky thread

Computerized Embroidery
  • Q: What weight thread should I use for computerized machine embroidery?
  • A: If you love to do machine embroidery, you should know that the vast majority of embroidery designs are digitized for Sulky 40 wt. Rayon. Because of its excellent runability, unparalleled quality and huge selection of colors, Sulky is, and always has been, the first choice of home embroiderers. Sulky 40 wt. Rayon is also easier to use than any polyester because it has less stretch and stretch memory. Sulky Rayon lays down nicely in the design without the occasional pull-ups which occur when using any polyester. Sulky 40 wt. Rayon's shimmering look is more soft, warm and natural compared to the almost "plasticky" look of polyester. Because of polyester's added, unnecessary strength, it causes acceleration of wear on the machine's moving parts and in the bobbin and needle thread path.
